VCR Cafe - Best coffee in Kuala Lumpur

It was a tough decision choosing which cafe to visit during my short 4 days 3 night vacation in KL. We only had the time to visit 1 cafe so I can only visit THE BEST. I did loads of research, went to tons of food blogs, read countless reviews and finally chose VCR cafe. On the outside, it might just seem like a normal black building (literally all black) but its interior is very rustic which I love!

VCR Big Breakfast [RM35]

Chipolata sausages, truss tomato, lamb bolognese, mushroom fricassee, turkey ham or beef bacon,

free-range eggs (any styles) on sourdough toast

This was a pretty good standard english breakfast especially the sour dough! After actually baking a sourdough bread in school, I leant to appreciate it. It has flax seeds in it too! I love anything food for my body HAHA. Scramble eggs was well prepared and seasoned too.

Earl Grey Tea [RM13]

VCR Breakie [RM28]

Smokes english or chipolata sausages, truss tomato, lamb bolognese, mushroom fricassee,

free-range eggs (any styles) on sourdough toast

This is very similar to the big breakfast, just a smaller portion.

French Toast [RM19]

Espresso no churn ice-cream, brioche french toast, raspberry compote, crumbles, mocha sauce

It's never too early for ice-cream. Especially on french toast! The espresso ice-cream was very fragrant but tasted quite mild. Brioche french toast was well prepared (not sure if brioche was made by them though) and I love to pair it with the crunchy crumbles. The mocha sauce was quite bitter so it goes really well with the sweet crumble and ice-cream.

Fresh Orange [RM10]

As shown above ^

Lemon Poppy Seed Cake [RM11]

Did you know that poppy seeds is actually banned in Singapore? So I've always wanted to try how poppy seeds taste like as I know I won't have the chance in Singapore. Poppy seeds taste like mini chia seeds but much crunchier. The lemon cake was fluffy and slightly sour (duh, its lemon) which I love very much!

Latte [RM12]

VCR SERVES ONE OF THE BEST LATTE I EVER DRANK! I'm not a latte lover as it's often very bitter but this one is not at all. Maybe partly because of the type of beans they used? But iI highly recommend you to order their coffees!

Flat White [RM11]

So after we tried their very good latte, we went to order another cup - flat white this time. Once again, it was so good.

I'm sitting at this cute mini table made from a high chair on level 2. This small ally is very suitable if you just want to order a cup of coffee and spend your afternoon here because the table is so small!

All in all, you should definitely visit VCR Cafe if you're in KL. On average, my family spent about RM35 per pax [SGD12] which is really reasonable for a main + drink. The food is good, coffee is obviously a winner and everything here is so photogenic! #InstaWorthy Overall rating: 9/10
